Handloads.Com ForumGeneral DiscussionLotsa Lurkers?
Yesterday I checked a couple of times and there were plenty of "guests" looking in. 87 at one point, IIRC. Just now there were 72.

I realize that I'm a "guest" when I don't log in immediately when coming to the site. Is that what it is, or are there really that many visitors?

There aren't likely quite that many lurkers at that given moment since there is a session timout that keeps track of it, but it should be fairly close. From what I've seen here and elsewhere there are usually at least 10x as many people who just read than who also post. For example there are nearly 1,000 registered users here, yet the site gets over 20,000 unique visitors each month.

At least 2 friends of mine read, but have made a total of about 3 posts. They just don't feel comfortable posting in a public place.

I think the highest number of guests I've seen has been around 130.

That's interesting. I never paid attention before, but right now it says " There are currently 54 guests and 1 (me!) members on the boards".

Edited for "typo"

I've noticed some of the high numbers to but then about half the time it looks like I'm counted as a guest. but thats ok.
The most expensive bullet there is ain’t worth a plug nickel if it don’t go where its supposed to.
i usually surf while at work so, not wanting any cooworkers to do anything stupid, i just read until i feel like responding and then i log in so i'm usually listed as a guest also, sorry to err your numbers john
lifes too short to spend it doing things you dont like...hunt more work less!
Don't worry about it dac-ny, they're just some numbers at the bottem of the page, they aren't recorded anywhere or used for any kind of tracking. Just something else for people to look at here.

Hey,last week there were 281 guests and three members one time I dropped in here.

Hi there!

OK Guys, you made me feel guity! This is one fine site with a lot of good information being passed on.

I started shooting again this year after a long hiatus and am really enjoying it. Right now I have a Ruger P944-4, Ruger Bisley Single 6 and a Taurus 608 4in. With the 40 and the .357 it seems it is time to bone up on my rusty reloading skills, and you good folks have been a big reason for it.

Thank you,

Bill

Welcome into the light Bill. I don't think the point of this thread was to try and guilt anyone into posting, but the more the merrier!

Those Ruger semi autos are some good, under rated, guns. If you shoot those calibers much I'm sure reloading is starting to look very attractive, at least if factory loads cost as much where you are as they do here.

It sure does get a bit pricey. The best range price I can get here in Norfolk/Virginia beach is about $9.25 a box for the .40 and $10.95 a box for the .357

I guess that is why the .22 gets the most use.

The 944 is just a tad small for my hands, but it does shoot very well. $300 with a $40 rebate was hard to pass up and I can say that it has just gotten better and better with dry-firing and use.

It is now very smooth on double action, single action has a one-stop creep that is very controllable and the gun is a joy to shoot.

I post, there for I am?

I have to welcome Bill also and say that John nailed it when he wrote: "I don't think the point of this thread was to try and guilt anyone into posting, but the more the merrier!" I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad, just commenting on the numbers.

With all the information you guys are posting regarding LURKING, it sorta makes me think, some you have lurked before. I could understand this if you all were from New York, but............

Yeah, hey John, I think I just figured out something regarding lurkers...

I went to the main forum page and could see that in the lower left corner I was showing "Logged in as: Nortonics", BUT I wasn't showing up as a surfing member! Refreshed the page, but still showed as a lurker. So I clicked the "Log Off", then re-logged back in (selecting the cookies check-box as well). Well low & behold, now I show up as logged on in both places and am no longer a lurker.

I wonder if the maintenance you performed recently, and the temporary domain change has anything to do with that - like maybe everybody has to log off and back on again after performing such maintenance before they'll show up properly once again?

P.S. - The only other thing I can think of that may have something to do with this behavior (at least in my case) is that I also surf the forum from work, on a different PC, and it too is set up to auto log in.

??? - just some ideas...
