Handloads.Com ForumGeneral DiscussionYour Next Gun?
I have gone Lever loony in the past few years. I have traded or sold almost all of my rifles in favor of buying lever actions .44 mag, .45/70, 30/30, I just can't pass up a deal on a lever gun, but now I find I'm wanting some of the old long range guns I used to have. I've been pondering a Ruger #1B or possibly another Encore in single shot or maybe a bolt action Remington 700 BDL. I love the idea of being able to get different caliber combinations that the Encore offers, and there are many aftermarket barrel makers for it. I usually go to a gun store with one gun in mind and end up leaving with a different one that caught my eye. Whats on your wish list?

Don
Uva Uvam Vivendo Varia Fit
I always like wish lists

Here is what I want, but it will be a LONG time before I get it.

SW 3" 357 whatever I can find ( as a carry gun )
SW Mountain Gun in 45 Colt
SW Mountain Gun in 44 Mag
SW 29 6"
Super Blackhawk Hunter Bisley 44 Mag
Springfield 1911 loaded, 9mm

.........oops I'm getting carried away

There is a big gunshow coming up in Phoenix and I hope I can afford to buy one more gun this year.
I've always been lever looney . I saw the Hawk cartridges the other day and am thinking one of those in a long action Blr wouldn't be all that bad.
Then on the other hand my Ruger no.1 needs the barrel replaced.
Another colt model p would be nice.
Oh so many choices so little money.
The most expensive bullet there is ain’t worth a plug nickel if it don’t go where its supposed to.
A list of whats NOT on the wish list might be shorter. I'm basically a handgunner so while there are some rifles I'd like they're fairly generic and not really on a wish list. For handguns though...
Freedom Arms 454 Casull
Hamilton Bowen 4" Redhawk 45 Colt
Super Redhawk 480 Ruger and 44 Magnum (it's a wish list, right?)
4" M27
6" Colt King Cobra
EAA Witness 10mm, full size, steel, Blue
Colt Anaconda 44 Magnum 6" (or 45 Colt)

I could find room in the safe for many many more, but those are at the top of the list.

I know this will look a little out of place with the avatar I have, but I am becoming intrigued by the .22 Hornet. I loaded some 45 gr Rem with 10 gr H110 for a neighbor and he shot a deer the other day with those reloads at about 135 yards with a NEF Handi-Rifle. One shot, in the neck and it went down immediately!

Paul, enjoy a Hornet but it's not a death ray. Deer is pushing things to the max with that one. Anyway, if you do, try the K-Hornet instead. And Li'l Gun for either. Luck.

My future? A couple or three: .257 Roberts AI either by Cooper or built on a Dakota 10 action. Probably a .338 Win. on a Dakota action as well. If I'm still going then, .416 Rigby with all the bells and whistles.
Does anyone know where the love of God goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
Wish list....well like you that tends to change, but there have been a few that have lasted the test of time.

1. Winchester M71 348 Winchester

3. Mannlicher-Schoenauer 1903 in 6.5x54MS
4. Mannlicher-Schoenauer 1903 in 6.5x54MS, oh did I already mention that? THAT IS HOW BAD I WANT ONE.

5. Colt SAA, 1st or 2nd generation, 32/20.
6. Something in a 257 Roberts.
7. Savage M99 in 23/35.
8. Savage M99 in 250/3000.
9. Ruger M77 Express in 416 Rigby.
10. Fox Sterlingworth in 16 guage.
Scott

My wish list? No more guns! Every time I turn around I find a deal I can't refuse. At present I get 1 new gun every month. And in the area I live in there are bargains galore as everyone pawns or sells something.

The latest deal was a Colt Cobra from 1957, unfired and clean like it left the factory. Price? $225. I needed like a hole in the head, but it's in the gun safe.

I'd like to go one month without buying anything, that's my wish list.

Wish list.....

I'm not lever crazy, but I would like a lever action in 35 Rem. probably a Marlin.

I need a 6.5-06 and 8mm-06 to round out my Mausers.
Well... I guess I'd also have to have a .270. You think I'd get away with a .40-06???

I Need a new 12 guage also. probably an 870.

As long as were dreamin, another Marlin in 444 would be fun to play with.

Is it deer season yet?
Boomer take a look at the 411 Hawk. Its based on the 06 case. 325gr bullet at 2400+ fps.
The most expensive bullet there is ain’t worth a plug nickel if it don’t go where its supposed to.
Scott there are still some really nice 6.5x54MS's out there. Yes I see the price is climbing through the roof on them, but it goe's with the quality of the item. Pay particular attention to the quality or condition of the barrel. As you know there are many different barrel lenghts eg., 171/2, 191/2, 20, and 22 plus recently another 221/2. All these I've seen have matching receiver and barrel #'s. Mine is a 20in. and it loves the 140gr. Have quite some interesting reading for you if you want from 1980 on the subject by Ken Waters and Al Miller. Jerry

Hmmmm. Subject to change without notice.

Since I started to reload this past year, I am having a lot of fun exploring the different loads for the guns I do have and the "need a new gun" bug hasn't bit for awhile. But if we're talking wish lists, here goes, in order of likely purchase.

1. Ruger #1 Varminter - .223 Remington
2. Marlin 1895 Cowboy - .45-70
3. Colt SAA - .45 Colt or .44 Special
4. Whatever strikes my fancy
